I’m in love with a….Singer

I am officially in love…..with my sewing machine.  (And with a certain Brandon Herbert, but everyone already knows that!)  As I mentioned, I got a sewing machine for Christmas from my sister and brother-in-law (oh that is kind of weird to say), and I absolutely love it so far.  I definitely have a lot more to learn but I am super excited about it!  I have made a few small things and am rather impressed with how well I have caught on to most things so far.  That has been my stress relief lately, and I have needed it.  A lot has been going on at school and I will just say I am ready for My 25th to roll around.  Some of it has to do with our county, some with our actual school.  Either way, this year has been much more trying than the previous years.  I will say I have done some really exciting projects that I haven’t done in the past, which is exciting.  {Check out my school blog for pics!}

I have a lot to look forward to after May 25 also, including CMAfest, a 418 reunion in Seattle, and of course, a very big move 🙂  I am so looking forward to the day (whenever it might be) that I will be able to come home to my love and not have to plan a trip across 1000+ miles just to give him a smootch!  I won’t complain too much though, because my sister and her husband just got married and can’t live together until June of 2013….talk about a bummer!  I know that all of us will have stronger relationships because of the circumstances, but it really just sucks sometimes!

Speaking of my honey AND my sister and her husband, I got to see ALL of them this past weekend 🙂 🙂 talk about exciting!  My sister came down to visit Uriah and they stayed at my apartment for the weekend rather than driving back and forth from Columbus, GA.  It was wonderful to just spend some time relaxing and hanging out with them.  Having them stay at my apt proved to be a nice little blessing Saturday night too, when Brandon called and told me he was staying in Savannah for another night and wouldn’t have to work until the following day.  As excited as I was to go out there, I wish the military was a bit more on top of things and would’ve let them know there was a weather delay at like noon, rather than 4pm….I mean, there is this crazy thing called a radar….  Anyway, I headed out basically right after I talked to him and drove through some horrendous rain and got there around 8:30.  We went to dinner with a few of his work buddies, then met up with one of the girls in his unit.  We both wanted to go dancing so Brandon entertained us and took us to a *classy* (ha) little joint where we danced the night away [with some help from Patron and a few distasteful hip-hop songs, lol].  I had SOO much fun and am so glad that there is a girl that lives in Clovis that I actually LIKE hanging out with.  So we basically stayed out too late and had too much fun, but I’m glad I went.  I was very sad to say goodbye early Sunday morning, although I loved kissing him goodbye in his uniform (gotta love a man in uniform!).  We aren’t really sure when we will see each other next, so for now, our dates will have to be via Skype.

Anyway, I have been looking for jobs out west, although most teaching jobs aren’t posted until later in the year.  I need to continue to be proactive though because I would probably go insane if I didn’t have at least some sort of job to keep me occupied.  I am just ready for a change and it seems like the timing is working out in my favor so far.

Until next time….

I love him!

Happy New Year!

Holy moly, I know it’s been awhile….I have been quite a busy little bee!  Last time I updated was obviously before Christmas AND the wedding.  The few weeks leading up to my Christmas break were spent working, crafting, shopping, and getting ready for my sister’s big day.  Our last day teaching was the 16th, so I headed directly home the 17th and got to work!  My parents were out of town when I got in so it gave me a chance to get in and getting settled a bit.  The following week was mostly spent doing the “big” wedding stuff, such as arranging centerpieces, making signs and banners, printing things that needed to be printed, making the cake toppers, etc.  I LOVED being able to craft all day with no work or anything to worry about.  My sister came home a few days before Christmas, so it was nice to have us all home (probably for the last time for awhile since we are all kind of going here there and everywhere!).  Christmas was fantastic, I am spoiled by my family!  My two favorite gifts were my new camera bag (makes me want a new camera too ;)) and my sewing machine.  I have been talking about learning how to sew for awhile now and my sister knew I would never buy a sewing machine for myself, so her and Uriah bought me one for Christmas!  I am BEYOND excited about learning how to use it and have been scouring Pinterest for projects and ideas.  I am hoping to get started with it this weekend in fact 🙂

Anyway, the next week was also filled with some wedding planning last-minute items, as well as the arrival of my sweet boyfriend 🙂  We were worried that he would not make it to Ohio for the wedding, as one of his family members was having some health problems….but things seemed stable and he decided to come after all (which made me incredibly happy!!!).  Say a little prayer for his family though when you get a chance, as the health issues are ongoing and prayers work wonders!  He arrived on the 28th, and we spent some time with my parents and alone, which was nice.   Thursday we headed out to the barn with my parents and the Quicks to set up the barn for the wedding.  This was the day I started to feel like all my planning and preparations for the wedding finally came together.  With much help from mom, dad, Tim, Melissa, and Brandon, the barn was almost entirely ready to go by evening, and it looked absolutely amazing (at least I thought so!!!).  I was finally able to take a deep breath and a step back and really look at all I had done.  I was kind of proud of myself 🙂  (It looked even better Saturday when candles were lit and every last thing was in it’s place, but it was a HUGE sigh of relief).  My sister and Uriah came home later that night and we all went out to the Big Bang, a piano bar downtown.  It was nice to spend some “down time” with everyone before things got super hectic with the wedding.  We had a great time (for the most part…) and Nicole and I got Uriah up on stage 🙂  Friday was relaxing and a little crazy at the same time— manis, pedis and massages complete with mimosas during the day with some lovely ladies (thank you Brandon for hanging out with my pops all day, hope y’all had fun!), then a scramble to get ready for the rehearsal dinner.  The rehearsal went great, the barn looked wonderful, and we put the finishing touches on everything after the dinner.  Saturday came super fast and again, I ditched Brandon to my dad and the boys so I could get ready with Shelby and the rest of the girls.  It was SOOO nice to spend the day with friends and family, enjoying drinks, munchies, and each others’ company.  Shelby was such a wonderful bride and entirely too kind with her bridesmaids gift and I appreciate every detail of it!  After getting ready and taking some pictures with the girls out at the barn, it was time!  The ceremony went perfectly and I was blown away by how beautiful the barn looked and how many compliments it got!  Dinner was fabulous and the party was even better!!!  I love weddings and I love to dance, so I had an incredible time.  I was so glad that Brandon was there to share this time with me too, and I even got a kiss from him at midnight 🙂 🙂   (Did I mention the wedding was New Year’s Eve??)  I am so happy for Shelby and Uriah and I love that I got to be a part of their amazing day!  I wish them nothing but the best for the rest of their lives and I know their marriage is going to be one of happiness, success and love forever!

Okay, so after the wonderful weekend Brandon and I headed back to Georgia (during which our 8 hour drive turned into an 11 hour drive…thank goodness he was there to keep me sane!!!).  Brandon got to stay in Atlanta a few more days, until I had to take him to Savannah this past weekend for work.  He came to school a few days and we truly enjoyed “us” time, since we didn’t have much of it while we were in Ohio.  Saturday we drove out to Savannah and spent the day and night there, and I stayed for part of the day Sunday.  I love the quaintness of Savannah and how laid back and low-key it is.  I can totally picture Brandon and I living there at some point in time.  We had a great time and I was definitely sad to drive away on Sunday.  It is REALLY hard to have him be in the same state as me and not be able to come home to him every day. I absolutely cannot wait until we are together all the time and I do get to come home to him….

That basically brings me up to now–I am working, working, working and starting to get organized and do all of the things I had put off while working on Shelby’s wedding.  I am starting to look for jobs out west and seeing where all of this might take me 🙂  Sorry if my post is a little spastic, but I had a lot to update!  I’ll leave you with a random collection of pictures from the last month of excitement:

Sorry it won’t let me turn these two…
